ADP: Hey Getrude, what art world advice would you give to your younger self?
GM: Hey there,
I would tell myself to keep going even though it seems dark and hopeless. It will all make sense some day and you will be grateful younever gave up.
The path you chose or rather the path that chose you(since we don’t choose art but it does choose us) is not the easiest, you will need to embrace being different and accept that there are some things you can not dream of, it’s a path of sacrifice. Forget dreaming of being understood by your family, friends, and other people. Normalize being labeled rebellious, crazy and lost because your ways are parallel with theirs.
There will be times when you will feel alone while surrounded by people, you will talk a language that no one understands and feel the feelings no one relates to but that’s all the cost of being in this world.
All in all don’t trade your path for anything else, be consistent, have discipline, create your community and don’t stop creating and being delusional it all makes sense at the end.
